Delete your account

You can delete your Picky Alarm account and the data stored with it at any time, whether or not you still have the app installed.

If you still have the app

Open Picky Alarm, tap the account icon at the top of the alarm list to reach the Account screen, then tap Delete account at the bottom and confirm. The account is deleted straight away. Nothing is queued and nobody has to approve it.

Delete account is not the same as Deactivate account, which sits just above it. Deactivating disables sign-in and keeps your data. Deleting removes it.

If you have uninstalled the app

Your account and its data still exist on our servers, so ask us to delete them. Write to hello@pickyalarm.com, or use the contact form, with Account deletion as the subject and the email address you registered with.

We reply within 30 days, which is the deadline GDPR Art. 12 sets. We will ask you to confirm from the registered address before deleting anything, because otherwise anybody who knows your email could close your account.

What deletion removes

  • Your profile - email address, display name and password hash.
  • Alarm backup data - every alarm synced to the cloud, with its name, time, recurrence schedule and ringtone preference.
  • Cached calendar data - anything fetched from Google Calendar and still held.
  • Account settings - the app preferences stored against your account on our servers.

Alarms held only on your phone are deleted with the app itself. They never reach our servers unless you turned on Auto-sync alarms to cloud, which is off by default.

What survives, and for how long

Two things outlive the account, both because they are not filed under it. The figures are the ones in section 7 of the privacy policy:

  • Server logs - capped in size and rotated automatically. They contain no IP address.
  • Contact form data - retained for up to 12 months for correspondence records, then deleted.

Server logs hold request timestamps and the page requested, no IP address and no account contents. If you wrote to us before deleting, that correspondence is what the second line covers.

How long deletion takes

Account data - retained until you delete your account. Deletion removes your profile and associated data within 30 days.

Alarm backup data - retained for as long as your account is active. Deleted with the account. You can also delete a single alarm in the app at any time. That marks it deleted at once, so it stops syncing to your other devices, and the record is erased within 30 days. The delay is what lets a device that has been offline learn the alarm is gone rather than restore it.

Calendar data - event details are fetched on demand and not stored. For an event you have linked to an alarm we keep its title and start time, so the app can tell you what changed. That record goes as soon as you delete the alarm it belongs to.

Deletion cannot be undone

There is no restore. Registering again with the same email address gives you a new, empty account. If you only want to stop using the app for a while, use Deactivate account instead, or turn off calendar sync and cloud backup in Settings.
